Derbyshire Pilates postural rehabilitation

Bridgette Bradley has been developing Derbyshire Pilates since 1999. She has a Masters degree in Occupational Psychology and is a graduate member of the British Psychological Society, with a special interest in the Sports and Exercise division.

Her expertise in ergonomics centres around the relationship between people and the physical and psychological demands of their working environment.

Over the years Bridgette has developed an holistic approach to her work, combining her knowledge in physiological psychology with the Pilates method to design rehabilitation programmes.

Her determination to provide individuals with a comprehensive assessment strategy, has led her to draw from recent research on stability performance assessment techniques such as the ’Pilates Matrix‘ assessment and training for low load motor control stability problems and corrective training techniques.

Combining already established applied principles of analysis allows for a rigorous assessment process. The system of assessment highlights low and high load ‘weak links’ in stability and movement dysfunction. This process then guides a specific retraining programme to improve stability, strength and body alignment.

Mission Statement

My mission is to provide an environment for individuals that will help them achieve equilibrium and help balance both the mind and body through Pilates exercise. Enhance functional movement and in turn restore quality of life and give guidance and information to help the individual take a proactive approach to their posural rehabilitation.

The motivating force behind my work are those people I have had the pleasure to work with and care for over the years. The many clients who have embraced their rehabilitation and learned how to move and perform with greater ease, have inspired me to work harder to try and enhance the lives of others. Another driving force are the many fellow health professionals, who have entrusted their clients to my care and allowed me to help with their recovery. Last but not least, my family and friends who never tire with their encouragement for my work.

I am a strong believer in embracing new ideas based on firm theoretical foundations that enhance the quality and funtionality of my rehabilitation work. I continue to learn, share ideas with others and develop my knowledge to pass on to my clients". - Bridgette.
